Under Cable Fault Detection System

As we all know that in any under cable line it is very difficult to detect any fault or connection loose because it is installed under the ground. If nay fault is shown it is very time taking process to find it.

In our project we are making a system which will detect fault or cut in three lines of wires and show its distance from the start in a LCD display.

Component required:

  • Arduino Nano
  • 12v,2 amp SMPS
  • ULN2003 IC
  • 7805 voltage regulator
  • 16x2 LCD display
  • 10 k Variable resistor
  • 10 k Fixed resistor
  • 4 pieces 1 K Fixed resistor
  • 16 pieces 100 E Fixed resistor
  • 3 12v SPDT relay
  • 3 IN4007 diode
  • 3 LED
  • Buzzer
  • 12 ON/OFF Switches

     

Working:

  • For controller we are using Arduino Nano.
  • For display 16 x 2 LCD display is used.
  • For condition of cut or fault we are using 12 on/ off switch.
  • For connection we are using relay which creates supply on each line one by one.
  • You can see the arrangements of resistance in lines.
  • As any line is cut using switch.
  • The value of resistor is detected in the line and by this measurement we can get the distance of fault from the start.
  • This procedure is followed in each line one by one.
  • The fault is also shown by the buzzer when fault is detected.
  • The display shows the cut distance and also if there is fault or not.

Advantages:

  • This system saves the time and man power of maintenance.
  • It detects the fault even if anyone doesn’t complaint about it.
